JR. WoLVES SOCCER
Jr. Wolves is an important next step in the Free Play for Kids pathway.
Youth at participating Free Play schools may join Jr. Wolves in Grade 5 or 6. The program is designed to support kids during the transition from elementary school to junior high by building confidence, leadership skills, and strong peer connections.
Through Jr. Wolves, players are introduced to a more structured sport experience that focuses on skill development, teamwork, and belonging—while still keeping play fun, inclusive, and welcoming. For many youth, this program becomes a place where friendships form and continue beyond the school year, helping kids enter junior high with a peer group and trusted mentors they can rely on.
Jr. Wolves also serves as the pathway into Wolves, our competitive teams that participate in city-wide leagues. Players who continue along this pathway gain not only sport experience, but a sense of identity and community that supports them as they grow.
Beyond Wolves, youth can apply for our Future Leaders university scholarship—a four-year program that supports post-secondary education and encourages graduates to return to Free Play as coaches, mentors, and community leaders.
Program Costs
To keep Jr. Wolves accessible, we operate on a Contribute What You Can model. Families are invited to support the program in the way that works best for them—through financial contributions or volunteer involvement—so that all kids can continue to belong, lead, and succeed together.
Participating schools

1) How did you become involved in Coaching soccer?
Moving to Canada from Germany had a huge impact on why I got involved in coaching soccer. I am very passionate about developing soccer in Canada and creating pathways for youth to give them hope to reach huge goals.
2) What do you enjoy most about coaching?
As a Coach, you always face different challenges and you have to determine how to overcome them. It is never boring and the development you see in players who worked with you over time is truly awesome.
3) Share a highlight or favourite moment from your time at Free Play.
Our first two seasons as a club have been so full of highlights it's hard to choose! The U13 Boys won Gold in their very first Outdoor Season and the U15 Boys won Silver in the following Indoor season. Moments like that I will never forget.
4) What is one of your quotes that you live by personally and/or professionally?
Jose Mourinho: 'The most important quality a player can have is not skill, but mentality.'
5)List any coaching certifications or coach education that you possess.
Due to playing at the highest level of youth soccer in Germany (U19-Bundesliga), I experienced a lot of elite coaching. When I came to Canada I decided to continue my coaching journey by starting to complete Canada Soccer's Coach Education and Certification program, and am expecting to complete my C-License shortly.
6)Outside of coaching, what are your interests or hobbies?
I still love to play soccer and watch my teams FC Liverpool and Hannover 96 play every weekend. Since I am in Canada I enjoy nature a lot and also love to spend time fishing with my brother.
