FOOD TO PLAY PROGRAM
This four-level food and nutrition education program progresses from basic Food Literacy and Healthy Habits to Advanced Performance Nutrition for young athletes. Food to Play is embedded in all Free Play + Wolves programs.
The 4 levels are (L1)Food for Life, teaching 7-11 year olds foundational food knowledge and habits;(L2)Food for Play, introducing food choices that support activity & growth for 11-13 year olds. (L3)Food to Train, for 13-15 year olds, ready to fuel their bodies and minds for training and sport performance. (L4)Food to Compete, educating adolescent kids ages 15-17 years old, advanced performance nutrition and recovery strategies.
Each level contains three core pillars:
Food Literacy
Kids learn to understand food, build positive relationships with it, and make choices guided by the Canadian Food Guide. As they advance, they explore nutrients and how food fuels sport and performance. Food literacy helps set a strong foundation for lifelong healthy habits.
Dietary Habits
We teach a holistic approach to eating—such as slowing down, chewing well, and developing daily routines that support growth. As kids progress, they explore more specific nutritional needs for sport and competition. These habits help their bodies absorb nutrients and perform at their best.
lifestyle + Wellness
Children learn about inclusive diets, cultural food traditions, and the power of sustainable choices. We emphasize rest, recovery, and balance to support both body and mind. Wellness education helps kids understand how nutrition, activity, and mental health work together.
